My take:

 First Time: The Legend of Garison Fitch by Samuel Ben White was a fun take on time travel. It takes place where a brilliant scientist finds a way to go back in time away from the accolades he receives for his work and enters a simpler time. But instead off traveling back in time things shift and he travels interdementional but not knowing how to get back to his time, he decides to begin a life for himself where he is. He falls in love and decides he wants to say, only to be trust back to his original time. Only everything is different now. Nothing is as he remembers it, but it is better than he could have imagined. First Time: The Legend of Garison Fitch is a great fun and will keep you interested as you try to see what happens. You lose yourself in the story that  Samuel Ben White creates, and as you fall into the rhythm of the story the world around you just falls away as the story develops and the characters evolve.

Samuel Ben White (“Sam” to his friends) is the author of the national newspaper comic strip “Tuttle’s” (found at www.tuttles.net) and the on-line comic book “Burt & the I.L.S.” (found at www.destinyhelix.com). He is married and has two sons. He serves his community as both a minister at a small church and a chaplain with hospice. In addition to his time travel stories, Sam has also written and published detective novels, a western, three fantasy novels and four works of Christian fiction.

Book Review: Texting Through Time by Christy Monson

 My take:
Texting through Time John Taylor by Christy Monson is such a fun way to help kids learn more about the prophet John Taylor and his life. They go back in time starting in England when President Taylor was a little boy and bring him to life. Then they go forward in time trying to find clues that will help them learn more about the prophet and his life and things they need to gather to help them return to their own time. It is a fun adventure that makes learning about Church History fun and exciting. It is an easy fast read that delves into the things that happened to the third prophet of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, John Taylor. It is easy to come away feeling like you know him and what he went through to become the prophet of the Lord.

I really enjoyed reading this story and felt like I was on the same trip through time as Alicia and Micah. It was fun to travel through the different events as they decided which ones they wanted  to participate in. They learn a lot about who John Taylor is and they feel a personal bond with him that is conveyed to the reader who  then also feels that bond. I love this whole premise for learning about the prophets of the church. I had a great time reading Texting Through Time and would recommend it to everyone of all ages.

I would even recommend reading Texting Through Time as a family as part of family night activities. It will capture the attention of those listening and it will instill a desire to learn more about the history of the church and about the prophets.
