A glimpse into my work in progress

 
I am doing a really fun thing with a few other writers where we post a little bit about our  work in progress to share what we are creating during all those hours spent on our laptops. So here are some questions I will answer and then at the end I am going to tag five other writers who will also share what they are working on with these same questions. So sit back, kick your feet up, and enjoy a sneak peak to the inside of my mind.
 
What is the working title of your book?  "Abby Leigh", although it will not be the final title, this is the one I am using to write my first draft. But I think it will end up being "Stalker's Rules".
Where did the idea come from for the book? I don't know really, I brain stormed with my writing partners and they took my idea and made it fantastic. The idea for Abby Leigh just popped into my head and I needed to write it. I just liked the idea of a girl running and trying to escape her past but being forced to confront it head on.
What genre does your book fall under? I would say it falls under romantic suspense.
Which actors would you choose to play your characters in a movie rendition? Oh wow, I need to think about that one a bit.  I never imagined them as anyone but themselves. I don't think at this stage I want to put a different name or face on them than who they already are in my imagination. They are very solid in my mind and I don't want to change that by using actors. So as for now, I don't want to name names on this one just yet.
What is the one-sentence synopsis of your book? When Abby came home from work, the last thing she expected was her ex to try and kill her, she's been running ever since.
Will your book be self-published or represented by an agency? I don't know. I think ether way would be great. I just want to be published period. If that means making a go at self-publishing then I will.  If it get an agent and get to be published that way, then yippee! I think both scenarios could be a win.
How long did it take you to write the first draft of your manuscript? I started the first draft of "Abby Leigh"  about 8 months ago in between being a mom to 7 great kids, teaching fitness classes and pretending to keep up on my house and I am  still a few scenes shy of finishing my first draft.
What other books would you compare this story to within your genre?  Some authors I think are great at manufacturing suspense are Christina Dodd, Rachael Gibson, Susan Anderson, and Teresa Medieros. They know how to sprinkle in the humor and keep you biting your nails at the same time.  I hope that is how others see my work.
Who or What inspired you to write this book? The love of writing and sitting on the edge of your seat made me want to try a suspense and see if I could keep the reader guessing to the end. I think this story has always tried to come to life and was waiting for me to realize it as it waited to be  freed by pen and paper.
What else about your book might pique the reader’s interest? There are all kind of funny situations to make things exciting, as the characters try to figure things out. They will get you laughing, sitting on the edge of your seat and wondering how it all ends. And lots of tension and chemistry.

My 23rd Anniversary and Goal Results

Here is a super quick flash on how I did this month with my goals! It is my Anniversary after all and so I need to be about celebrating it with my honey!! But first a brief check in on how my goal results turned out.

So I got in 3 posts a week for a month, counting this one~ since I started on the 4th of July, I think that's fair. It was fun to post so much!

I got my writing goals accomplished. I even slightly modified I achieved what I set out to do! Yahoo!

And as for adding followers, I got 25 plus new followers this month but fell short of my goal of 100 by 16. But that is ok, I plan to get them soon enough. If any one has any cool ideas on how to do this, please I am all for hearing them.

I ran out of time to work on my blog that way when I spent a week visiting my family. They wanted a lot of my time and were jealous of my computer and on line time either on my blog or on my WIP or on email. OH well!! No biggie.

So I need to devise some new goals for the month of Aug and when I do, I will let you know what they are! If you have any goals that you are looking to achieve, let me hear about them and we can spend the month of Aug working on them together!

Yay! I am so excited, this is my very first blogfest. What better way to celebrate Valentine's Day than with a romantic scene. The theme is Love at First Sight . . . Aric could no longer resist her and took a step forward, closer to Kieryn, holding her trusting gaze with his. The warmth of her body radiated off her as he drew nearer to her. He relished it, allowing it to warm him. It had been a very long time since he last felt anything close to it.

There wasn't a need for his heightened powers of persuasion. As he lowered his head slowly keeping her eyes locked with his, fascinated by their ever shifting change of colors, he came closer still. Gently, carefully, he pressed his lips to hers, and closed his eyes.

An electric shock coursed through him. Never in his entire existence as a mortal or immortal had he ever experienced anything like it. It filled him with life and light renewing him. The taste of her lips was more than he could ever have imagined. Sweeter, more delicious than he had anticipated. The kiss was just as enticing as the blood racing through her veins. He was instantly addicted. He wanted more. He deepened the kiss, pressing his lips more firmly on hers and held her body close to his. Her warmth radiated out to him, penetrating his clothes, alleviating the emptiness inside him as nothing else had in over a century of imprisonment, or even before that. He knew the minute she responded, melting into his arms. The echo of her surrender flooded his thoughts through the link they now shared.

He was confused by the immediate and violent possessive reaction surging through him with regard to the girl in his arms. No one but me will ever have her! He emphatically determined. It was an unbreakable vow that with an unexpected eagerness he covenanted with himself. It was imperative that he keep her safeguarded at all costs. He assigned himself as her sentinel and would always watch over her, protect her. In order to ensure her safety he would move heaven and earth if he needed to.

The sweet ambrosia that was her kiss swirled in endless delight inside him, every sense filled to overload with its pure enticement. It was hard to believe how she threatened to overwhelm him with her essence, to be his complete undoing. Nothing, no experience in his life had prepared him for her.
